England Women struggled both with the ball and in the field, with Lauren Bell’s figures of 3/27 being the standout performance. Em Arlott and Sophie Ecclestone each took a wicket but were somewhat expensive.

India Women delivered a commanding batting performance, posting a formidable 210/5 in their 20 overs after being sent in to bat first. The openers set a solid platform with a 77-run stand. Shafali Verma made a quick 20 before falling, while Smriti Mandhana anchored the innings beautifully. Mandhana, in sublime form, partnered with Harleen Deol for a rapid 94-run partnership. Deol played a brisk cameo of 43, and Mandhana achieved her maiden T20I century. Late contributions from Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma added crucial runs, propelling India to an imposing total.

India Women’s bowlers executed their plan effectively, restricting England’s boundary scoring by making them hit against the wind. The bowling unit shone, with debutant Shree Charani taking 4 wickets, Radha Yadav and Deepti Sharma claiming 2 each, and Amanjot Kaur and Arundhati Reddy adding one wicket apiece.

England Women were under pressure to score quickly, leading to opportunities for India. Natalie Sciver-Brunt and Tammy Beaumont’s 49-run partnership was the only significant stand, with Natalie scoring a fighting 66. However, the rest of the lineup failed to support her, resulting in a heavy defeat. India was clinical in the field, seizing the opportunities presented to them.
